QR Code Generator
Turn any link or text into a scannable QR code in seconds.
A QR code stores information — usually a website link — in a pattern your phone camera can read instantly.
The QR code above is static — once printed, its destination is fixed. If you need scan statistics, or the ability to update where it points later, you want a dynamic QR service.
How to use
- Type or paste any text or URL into the box above.
- Pick a size and colors if you like, then click "Generate QR code".
- Scan it with your phone camera to test, then download the PNG.
About this tool
This generator creates standard static QR codes with medium error correction, which scan reliably even if slightly damaged or printed small.
Everything happens on your device. The text you enter is never sent to any server, so it is safe for Wi-Fi passwords and private links.
How it works
QR (Quick Response) codes were invented by Denso Wave in 1994 to track car parts, and the specification has been open ever since. Your text is encoded into a grid of black and white modules with Reed-Solomon error correction woven in — which is why a slightly damaged or dirty code often still scans.
There are four error-correction levels: L recovers about 7% of damaged data, M 15%, Q 25%, and H 30%. Higher correction means a denser code for the same text. Codes come in 40 versions (sizes); a version-40 symbol holds up to roughly 4,000 alphanumeric characters.
Worked examples
Wi-Fi sharing: Encode your Wi-Fi credentials so guests join by pointing their camera — no more dictating passwords.
Business card: A vCard QR on your card lets someone save your contact details with one scan.
Quick reference
| Level | Damage recovery | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| L (Low) | ~7% | Clean print, maximum capacity |
| M (Medium) | ~15% | General use, the default choice |
| Q (Quartile) | ~25% | Outdoor or industrial settings |
| H (High) | ~30% | Logos overlaid, harsh conditions |
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes — unlimited, no account, no watermark.
Do you store the text I enter?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing leaves your device.
Will my QR code expire?
No. These are static QR codes — the data is encoded directly in the image, so they work forever with no service behind them.
What can I put in a QR code?
URLs, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, email addresses, phone numbers — anything text-based up to a few thousand characters.
