Random Password Generator

Create strong, random passwords — generated on your device only.

Strong passwords are long and random — this generator uses cryptographic randomness from your own device.

Don't try to memorize it

A strong password you cannot remember ends up on a sticky note. A password manager remembers it for you, fills it in automatically, and generates a new one whenever you need it.

How to use

  1. Choose a length and which character sets to include.
  2. Click Generate — a strong password appears instantly.
  3. Copy it into your password manager. Do not reuse passwords.

About this tool

Longer is stronger: 16+ characters with mixed sets resists brute-force attacks for centuries.

Crucially, passwords are generated locally and never transmitted. No one — including us — can see them. Use a password manager to store them.

How it works

Each password is built from cryptographically secure random values, with every character position chosen independently — no patterns, dictionary words, or predictable substitutions. Generation happens entirely in your browser; nothing is transmitted or stored.

Strength is measured in bits of entropy: entropy = length × log₂(alphabet size). A 16-character password drawn from 94 printable ASCII characters carries about 105 bits — far beyond brute-force reach. Adding length beats adding complexity: each extra character multiplies the attacker's search space.

Worked examples

New account: Generate a 20-character password with symbols for a fresh email account — unique, never reused anywhere else.

Easier to type: A 5-word passphrase (about 65 bits of entropy) is friendlier to type and still strong for low-risk logins.

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone see my generated password?

No. It is created inside your browser and never sent over the network.

How long should a password be?

At least 16 characters for important accounts; longer is always better.

Should I use the same password twice?

Never — use a unique password per site plus a password manager.
