How to Embed a Verystep Tool on Blogger (HTML View or Gadget)
The oldest platform in this series is also one of the least fussy: free, and it takes the code.

On Blogger you embed a Verystep tool two ways. For a single post, switch the editor to HTML view and paste the snippet where the tool belongs. For a tool on every page — a sidebar fixture — paste it into an HTML/JavaScript gadget in Layout instead. Blogger is free, has no plan tiers, and does not strip iframes.
Post or gadget: which do you want?
The difference is reach. An embed in a post’s HTML view lives in that post only — right for a calculator that belongs with one article. An embed in a gadget shows in the sidebar (or footer) of every page on the blog — right for a small utility your regulars use daily. Both routes take the identical snippet from the tool’s embed box; only the paste location changes. Blogger imposes no plan gate on either, which puts it in the small no-catch group with Ghost and self-hosted WordPress.
Step by step: inside a post
- Open the tool and copy its embed code — the example below is the Timezone Meeting Planner.
- Edit the post and click the pencil icon at the top left of the editor to switch to HTML view.
- Find the spot in the markup where the tool belongs and paste the snippet on its own line.
- Switch back to Compose view to sanity-check the layout, then publish.
Do not paste into Compose view directly — Blogger will treat the code as words to display, and your readers will see the snippet instead of the tool. That one mistake accounts for nearly every failed Blogger embed.
Step by step: as a sidebar gadget
- Copy the tool’s embed code as above.
- Go to Layout in the Blogger dashboard and click Add a Gadget in the sidebar area.
- Choose HTML/JavaScript, paste the snippet as the content, and save.
- Drag the gadget to the position you want and save the arrangement.
Sidebar columns are narrow — expect to raise the snippet’s height and let the tool stack vertically. Test on a phone before you commit; narrow frames are where clipping hides.
Worked example
The exact snippet from the Timezone Meeting Planner’s embed box:
<iframe src="https://verystep.com/embed/timezone/" title="Timezone Meeting Planner" width="100%" height="520" loading="lazy" style="border:0"></iframe>
If something looks wrong
Readers see raw code in the post. It was pasted in Compose view. Cut it, switch to HTML view, paste again.
The gadget shows but the tool is squeezed. Sidebar widths on many Blogger themes are 300px or less. The tool still works; if it clips, raise the height and accept the narrower layout, or move the embed into a post where it gets the full column.
Blank frame after switching themes. A new theme sometimes drops customised gadgets. Re-add the HTML/JavaScript gadget — the snippet itself never changed. The embed overview covers the rest of the platform landscape.
The worked example below embeds the Verystep Timezone Meeting Planner — a natural sidebar or post tool for blogs with readers in other time zones. Its embed box waits under the FAQs.
Frequently asked questions
Is embedding on Blogger really free?
Yes. Blogger has one tier — free — and neither the post HTML view nor the HTML/JavaScript gadget restricts iframes. There is no plan to upgrade to.
What is the difference between the HTML view and Compose view for embeds?
HTML view edits the post’s actual markup, so an iframe pasted there runs as code. Compose view is a visual editor; code pasted there is treated as text and displayed to readers literally.
Can a gadget embed slow down my whole blog?
The snippet loads lazily, so a sidebar frame fetches when a reader scrolls near it. One gadget tool is negligible; stacking several heavy tools in the sidebar is where you would start to feel it.
My theme changed and the embed vanished. What happened?
Theme changes can reset the layout and drop custom gadgets. The post embeds survive (they are post content); sidebar gadgets need re-adding from Layout.
