How to Embed a Verystep Tool in WordPress (Self-Hosted)

Self-hosted WordPress is the easiest embed there is: one block, one paste, done.

On a self-hosted WordPress site, you embed a Verystep tool with the Custom HTML block. Open the tool, copy the code from the “Embed this tool on your site” box, then paste it into a Custom HTML block in your post or page and publish. There is no plugin to install and WordPress does not strip iframes on self-hosted sites, so the tool appears exactly as pasted.

Can you embed a tool in self-hosted WordPress?

Yes — and it takes about a minute. Self-hosted WordPress (the kind from wordpress.org, running on your own hosting) lets you add raw HTML to any post or page, and an iframe is just HTML. Nothing gets filtered, nothing needs approving. If your site runs on WordPress.com instead, the rules are different — read the WordPress.com guide before you start, because lower plans strip iframes.

Every Verystep tool can be embedded this way. The full list of platforms, plus the handful where embedding does not work at all, lives on the embed overview page.

Step by step

  1. Open the tool you want — say the Compound Interest Calculator — and scroll to the dashed “Embed this tool on your site” box under the FAQs.
  2. Click Copy code. The snippet is now on your clipboard.
  3. In WordPress, edit the post or page and click the + inserter where the tool should appear.
  4. Search for Custom HTML and add that block.
  5. Paste the code, then click Preview inside the block to see the tool render.
  6. Publish or update. The calculator is live on your page, fully working — your readers never leave your site to use it.

Still on the classic editor? Switch the editor to the Text tab (not Visual) and paste the code straight into the content. Same result.

Worked example

This is the exact code the Compound Interest Calculator’s embed box hands you:

<iframe src="https://verystep.com/embed/compound/" title="Compound Interest Calculator" width="100%" height="520" loading="lazy" style="border:0"></iframe>

Two numbers in there are yours to change. The height (520) controls how tall the frame is — raise it if the tool looks cut off, lower it if there is dead space at the bottom. The width is set to 100%, which means “as wide as the block” — leave that one alone unless you want a fixed-width frame.

If something looks wrong

The frame is blank. Nine times out of ten the code went into the Visual editor or a regular paragraph block, which treats it as text to display rather than code to run. Move it into a Custom HTML block (or the Text tab) and it will render.

The bottom of the tool is cut off. Bump the height up in steps of 40 — 560, 600 — until the whole tool fits. Different tools need slightly different heights on narrow screens.

You see the code itself printed on the page. That is the same Visual-editor problem in reverse: the snippet was escaped. Delete it and paste into Custom HTML instead.

Keep going

The worked example below embeds the Verystep Compound Interest Calculator. Open it, scroll to the dashed box under the FAQs and grab its code — or pick any of the other tools; every Verystep tool page carries the same box.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a plugin to embed a tool in WordPress?

No. The Custom HTML block is built into the WordPress editor. Paste the snippet there and publish — no plugin, no shortcode, no settings to change.

Will WordPress strip or block the iframe?

Not on a self-hosted site. Administrators and editors can post unfiltered HTML, and the iframe survives publishing untouched. (WordPress.com is a different story: it strips iframes below the Business plan.)

Can I embed more than one tool on the same page?

Yes. Add one Custom HTML block per tool. Each frame loads independently and lazily, so a page with two or three tools still opens fast.

How do I change the size of the embedded tool?

Edit the height number in the snippet — 520 is the default. Width is 100%, so the frame always matches your content column; on mobile it simply narrows with the screen.

Does the embedded tool track my visitors?

No. Verystep tools run entirely in the visitor’s browser and the site carries no analytics or tracking scripts. The embed shows a small “Powered by Verystep” link, which is part of the free-use deal.
