EXIF Viewer & Cleaner

See the hidden data inside your photos — then strip it before sharing.

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is hidden data your camera or phone embeds in every photo: the date and time, camera model, exposure settings — and often a precise GPS location.

How to use

  1. Choose a photo from your device — it is read locally, never uploaded.
  2. Click "Inspect metadata" to see every EXIF tag, including any GPS location.
  3. If GPS is found, think twice before sharing the original file.
  4. Click "Download cleaned copy" to get a version with all metadata stripped.

About this tool

That GPS tag is the privacy risk. A photo shared online in its original form can reveal exactly where you live, work, or were standing when you took it.

This tool reads EXIF entirely in your browser and re-renders a cleaned copy with all metadata removed. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, so it is safe for sensitive photos.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Your photo is read and processed entirely in your browser with JavaScript. It never leaves your device.

What is EXIF data?

EXIF is metadata embedded in image files — camera settings, date/time, and sometimes GPS coordinates. Most phones add it automatically.

Will the cleaned copy look different?

No. Only the invisible metadata is removed; the pixels are identical (re-encoded as high-quality JPEG).

Does this remove GPS from HEIC photos too?

Yes — any image your browser can decode is re-rendered without metadata, which strips GPS along with everything else.
