About this tool

All math happens in your browser — no data leaves your device.

How it works

Every pay period converts through the annual figure. Annual pay is the anchor: monthly = annual / 12, weekly = annual / 52, daily = annual / 260 (52 weeks x 5 days), and hourly = annual / (hours_per_week x 52). Going the other way, multiply: an hourly wage x weekly hours x 52 gives the annual equivalent.

The 2,080-hour year (40 hours x 52 weeks) is the standard yardstick for full-time work, so $1/hour is roughly $2,080/year. These are gross figures — taxes, benefits and deductions are not included.

When comparing offers, convert everything to the same period before judging. A $70,000 salary with a 10% bonus beats a flat $75,000, and an hourly role at $36/hour with unpaid time off can trail a $70,000 salaried job once you count the missing weeks.

Worked examples

$75,000/year at 40 hrs/week: Hourly: 75000 / 2080 = $36.06. Monthly: 75000 / 12 = $6,250. A $3/hour raise equals about $6,240 a year.
