How it works
Chronological age is not just this year minus your birth year — the months and days matter. The calculation compares year, month and day separately: subtract the birth year from the current year, then adjust down by one year if this year's birthday has not happened yet.
Months and days are worked out with calendar borrowing, the same way you borrow in subtraction. If today's day-of-month is smaller than your birth day, you borrow a month (adding that month's day count); if the month goes negative, you borrow a year. Total days lived is simply the number of 24-hour periods between the two dates.
Worked examples
Born June 10, 1990 — age on October 5, 2026?: Years: 2026 - 1990 = 36. Months: 10 - 6 = 4, but the 5th is before the 10th, so borrow a month: 3 months, and add September's 30 days to the 5th: 35 - 10 = 25 days. Answer: 36 years, 3 months, 25 days.
