How it works
A valid invoice has six parts: a unique sequential number (e.g. INV-2026-001), issue and due dates, seller and buyer details, line items with quantities and unit prices, tax, and the total. The arithmetic is simple — total = sum of (quantity × unit price) + tax — but completeness is what makes it legally useful.
Payment terms set the due date: ‘Net 30’ means payment is due 30 days after the issue date, ‘Due on receipt’ means immediately. Offering ‘2/10 Net 30’ — 2% off if paid within 10 days — is a classic nudge for faster payment.
Sequential, gapless numbering is not just tidy: tax authorities in many countries require it so invoices can be audited. Never reuse or skip numbers, and check your local tax rules for what must appear on the document — VAT numbers, for instance, are mandatory in the EU.
Worked examples
Consulting invoice: 3 hours at $80/hr plus $45 in materials, 10% tax: subtotal $285.00, tax $28.50, total $313.50. Terms Net 14 — due two weeks after issue.
Monthly retainer: 1 × $2,000 retainer, no tax charged: total $2,000.00, due on receipt. One line item, still a complete invoice.

Is the PDF legally valid?
This generates a standard invoice document. Invoicing rules vary by country — check local requirements for tax IDs, sequential numbering, and mandatory fields.
Is my client data uploaded?
No. The PDF is generated locally with jsPDF. Nothing is sent to any server.
Can I customize the design?
The current version uses a clean standard layout. Custom branding is not yet supported.
