Multiplication Table Generator

Printable times tables, any size.

Times tables are the foundation of mental math — the 12×12 grid is the classic school standard.

How to use

  1. Pick a table size from 10×10 to 20×20.
  2. The full grid generates instantly.
  3. Print it (Ctrl/Cmd+P) for practice sheets.

About this tool

Patterns emerge: the diagonal is square numbers; the grid is symmetric.

Generated locally; nothing uploaded.

How it works

Multiplication is repeated addition wearing a fancy coat: 4 × 3 is just 4 + 4 + 4 = 12. The table is symmetric thanks to the commutative property (a × b = b × a), which means you only ever need to learn half of it — 7 × 8 and 8 × 7 are the same fact.

Patterns do half the memorising for you. Anything times 5 ends in 0 or 5; the digits of the 9-times table (up to 9 × 10) always sum to 9; multiplying by 11 up to 9 just doubles the digit (7 × 11 = 77). The diagonal of the table — 1, 4, 9, 16, 25… — is the square numbers.

Instant recall up to 12 × 12 is the foundation everything else stacks on: long multiplication, division, fractions and mental math all assume you can pull 7 × 8 = 56 without thinking.

Worked examples

The doubling trick: Stuck on 7 × 8? Halve one side and double the answer: 7 × 4 = 28, doubled = 56. Doubling is easier than recall for most people.

Nines on fingers: For 9 × 4, fold down your 4th finger: 3 fingers stand on the left, 6 on the right — 36. It works for the whole 9-times table up to 9 × 10.
