JSON to CSV Converter

Turn a JSON array into CSV instantly.

APIs speak JSON; spreadsheets speak CSV. This bridges the two for analysts and developers.

How to use

  1. Paste a JSON array of objects.
  2. Click Convert — CSV appears below.
  3. Copy it or download the .csv file.

About this tool

Nested objects are flattened to [object Object] — flatten your data first for best results.

Your data never leaves your browser.

How it works

CSV (RFC 4180) is rows of comma-separated values — one record per line, usually with a header row. Converting a JSON array of objects means collecting every unique key as a column header, then writing one row per object with each column looked up in turn.

Two quoting rules handle awkward values: a field containing a comma, quote, or newline gets wrapped in double quotes, and a literal double quote inside a field is doubled. So the value Say "hi" becomes "Say ""hi""" — ugly to read, unambiguous to parse.

Nested objects and arrays do not fit CSV's flat grid, so they are stringified into the cell as compact JSON. If you need every nested leaf as its own column, flatten the structure first.

Worked examples

API response into a spreadsheet: Your endpoint returns [{"name":"Ada","email":"[email protected]"},{"name":"Bo","email":"[email protected]"}]. Convert it and paste straight into Google Sheets — the keys become the header row automatically.

Values containing commas: [{"city":"Paris, France"}] converts with the city wrapped in quotes, so the comma does not split it into a phantom extra column.
